has more than 20 years
of leadership and administrative experience in healthcare quality, performance
improvement, and data management. As the former director at Texas Medical
Institute of Technology (TMIT), she was responsible for collaborative programs
with national organizations and hospitals focused on National Quality Forum
safe practices, Leapfrog Group standards, and national measures of accountability.
Prior to joining TMIT, Cheri served as chief quality and safety advisor
for Child Health Corporation of America, a 42-member business alliance,
and led a national collaborative that developed pediatric performance measures
for industry-wide public reporting. Cheri was a contributing author and
co-developer of the Pediatric Quality Systems, the standardized methodology
for pediatric measure development that is now endorsed by the Joint Commission
on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and used by pediatric institutions
nationwide. She served as the co-chair of the Health Level Seven pediatric
special interest group that developed national pediatric data standards,
and she managed the development of a comparative patient safety database
used by children’s hospitals. Cheri holds a nursing diploma from Saint
Francis Medical Center and a Bachelor of Science degree in health arts and
a Master of Science degree in health services administration from University
of Saint Francis. She is a registered health information technician (RHIT)
and is certified in healthcare quality (CPHQ).
